USA Racquetball Qualification Process for U.S. National Team

All players must be U.S. citizens with valid and current U.S. passports and members of USA Racquetball. If a player possesses dual citizenship and has competed for another country, the new country must request and/or be in receipt of a letter from the other country releasing the player to compete. This must take place prior to a player registering for a U.S. Team Qualifying event.

The following are the Singles and Doubles Qualifying procedures for the U.S. Team beginning with the 2022-23 season.

Singles Qualifying Procedures

Singles positions for the U.S. National Team for both men and women will be determined by performance at the National Doubles & Singles Championships.

The Top 4 Singles finishers in each gender will be offered positions on the U.S. Adult National Racquetball Team. Should any of the Top 4 Singles finishers elect not to join the Team, those down the point list will receive invitations in point order until 4 players have joined the Team. Should fewer than 4 players join the Team when the list of point recipients is exhausted, no additional players will be added until such time as they may be needed to complete a competition delegation. U.S. Team contracts will start June 1st and end May 31st.

Injury Exceptions: Written notice from a licensed physician describing the injury must be submitted to USA Racquetball office no later than 7 days after the injury. The U.S. Team Committee will review documents and rule on the Injury Exception within 30 days of written notice. No Injury Exceptions for an injury occurring once the event begins.

Extenuating Circumstances Exception: Major life events such as a death in an Athlete’s immediate family, birth of a child, and similar circumstances must be submitted in writing to the USA Racquetball office within 7 days of the major life event. The U.S. Team Committee will rule on whether the circumstance warrants an Extenuating Circumstances Exception within 30 days of written notice. No Extenuating Circumstances Exceptions will be granted if the Athlete has played any part of a match at the qualifying event.

Doubles Qualifying Procedures

The Champions and Runners-Up of the USA Racquetball National Doubles & Singles Championships U.S. Team Doubles Qualifying Division will be offered positions on the U.S. Adult National Racquetball Team.

Mixed Doubles Qualifying Procedures

The Champions and Runners-Up of the USA Racquetball National Doubles & Singles Championships U.S. Team Mixed Doubles Qualifying Division will be offered positions on the U.S. Adult National Racquetball Team.

Elite Athlete Health Insurance (EAHI) Criteria:

Pursuant to the EAHI allocation from the U.S. Olympic Committee, the top 3 Male and top 3 Female Athletes according to the following criteria will be offered EAHI. If an Athlete declines EAHI, the spot remains vacant and will not be passed to the next eligible player. The USOPC has allowed a slot to pass to the next Athlete in line if someone double qualifies (see handbook for details). At this time, there is a petition to allow Mixed Doubles Champions EAHI; however that will not be determined until the program for the 2023 Santiago Pan American Games has been determined (end of May).

#1 Singles Point Total

#1 Doubles Team Point Total (both players on the team)
