Team USA Ready to Shine in Men’s Pro Draw at Golden State Open
by USA Racquetball
Team USA will be strongly represented in the men’s pro draw at the Golden State Open in Pleasanton, California, this weekend. Leading the charge is Jake Bredenbeck, currently ranked sixth on tour. After a round of 16 exit in Spokane, Washington, Bredenbeck is focused on returning to top form. “I’m going to focus on what I can control,” he said. “Doing my best at each point, and the rest will take care of itself.” In 2023, Bredenbeck held the No. 1 ranking, reaching four finals and capturing one singles title. This weekend, he’s aiming to get back on track.
Next up is Adam Manilla, who, along with Erika Manilla and Bobby Horn, is co-directing the event. Ranked seventh on tour, Manilla has steadily climbed the rankings over the past three seasons. As an event director, his goal is to create a memorable experience for both amateurs and pros. “We’re excited to host the last IRT event of the 2024 season,” he said. “We want to thank all the amateurs and pros competing this year. This tournament showcases top talent in every division, so medalists here are the real deal. If you haven’t attended the Golden State Open, be sure to add it to your calendar for next year. Thanks to my staff and volunteers—this event wouldn’t run smoothly without them.”
Manilla, still pursuing his first tier-1 singles title, has made every quarterfinal this season and is now targeting his first semifinal appearance. Can he pull off the ultimate feat, running the event and winning his first pro singles title?
In doubles, Bredenbeck and Manilla are teaming up as one of the top contenders for the title. Be sure to catch them in action this weekend at the Golden State Open!
Rounding out Team USA is Thomas Carter, currently ranked 10th on tour. Carter wrapped up the 2024 season with a 6-5 record, adding to a professional career record of 59-65. Could this be the weekend he breaks through to reach his first semifinal? Carter will also team up with Mexico’s Jaime Martell in the pro doubles draw.
“I’m excited to compete this week at the Golden State Open,” Carter said. “This is the season-ending event for the men’s pro tour. I always enjoy the opportunity to play racquetball at the highest level, and I’m looking to finish the season on a high note.”
